Southern Lakes Sanctuary
Nestled in the stunning catchments of Lakes Wānaka and Wakatipu, the Southern Lakes Sanctuary is dedicated to safeguarding an incredible array of natural treasures.
Focused on restoring and protecting ecosystems, the Sanctuary works tirelessly to build resilience in wildlife populations and preserve the beauty of our natural world for generations to come.

Nursery
At AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand, we love keeping it native. At our remote Nevis playground, located 37km outside Queenstown, we've grown and donated over 3,000 native plants—including Olearia lineata, Coprosma propinqua (Mingimingi), and Cordyline australis (Tī Kōuka)—to local primary schools.
What began in 2020 as a small project to give back to the community has blossomed into something truly special. Our onsite nursery starts plants from seeds and cuttings, carefully nurturing them until they're ready to be donated. These efforts enrich local environments, inspire community involvement, and strengthen our collective commitment to protecting New Zealand’s natural heritage.

Waste Management
We are dedicated to minimizing waste and making every resource count. To help us achieve this, we’ve formed a Sustainability Committee with a clear mission to:
- Reduce our resource consumption
- Reuse as much as possible
- Recycle what we can’t repurpose
